Why is my plant different from the website?
Our photo will give you an idea of the cutting shipped, but each plant is unique and may look different. We try to send you similar specimens, but depending on stock their size may or may not be more advanced. In general we prefer to be generous.
Do I need to repot my plant once it arrives?
There's no need to repot your new plant right away! Rehydrate it, then let it recover from its trip for a few days, especially if you don't have time to garden right away.
I need advice for REPOTTING after delivery
I am often asked if you can keep the sphagnum moss from shipping around the Hoya roots when repotting. Yes, you can keep the sphagnum moss around the roots of your Hoya when repotting, but it depends on several factors:
You have two options for transporting sphagnum moss during repotting:
A. Keeping the sphagnum moss:
If the sphagnum moss is clean and the roots are not too tight around it, you can keep it and just add the substrate around it.
Ideal case: If your Hoya is young or if you are repotting in a substrate that requires temporary maintenance of humidity.
B. Remove the sphagnum moss:
If the sphagnum moss is compacted or starting to decompose, it is best to remove it gently. Old sphagnum moss can retain too much water, which can cause root rot.
Rinse the roots with warm water to remove any residual sphagnum moss before installing them in a new, well-draining substrate (for example, a mixture of bark, perlite and light potting soil).
Bottom line: Keep it only if it is in good condition and well ventilated. Otherwise, remove it to avoid any risk to your Hoya's health.
Do you ship during the winter?
Our baby plants are delicate. That's why we delay their shipping when it's too cold in Europe. Don't worry, your plant will grow and wait until the conditions are perfect for traveling.
